Cross stitch embroidery is making a comeback among modern makers and crafters. Are you curious about counted cross-stitch embroidery, too?

Check out these fantastic at-home cross stitching kits with all the tools and supplies you need to get started. These kits include high-quality needles, easy-to-read patterns, and all the colorful embroidery floss you’ll need to make a gorgeous project.

What is Counted Cross Stitch?

Cross stitch is one of the easiest forms of hand embroidery to learn. Cross stitch embroidery is done by making X-shaped stitches on woven fabric like Aida or linen.

Cross stitch projects often come as kits, with a pattern, fabric, and all the thread you’ll need to complete the project.

Teach Yourself Cross Stitch Embroidery

Are you interested in starting a cross-stitch project, but not quite sure where to begin? If you’ve never embroidered before, you may be overwhelmed trying to figure out what supplies and fabric you’ll need to buy.

If so, keep reading. I’ve gathered up ten of my very favorite modern cross-stitch kits that will help you learn how to do cross-stitch embroidery in no time.

The kits I’ve listed below are definitely beginner-friendly: they include easy-to-understand patterns and all of the required materials.

As a bonus, either the kits themselves or the final project would make great gifts for friends and family.

What to Look for in a Cross Stitch Kit

A good cross stitch kit will include all the materials necessary to complete a finished project.

At a minimum, a kit will have:

  • One or more needles.
  • Embroidery floss in the colors required to make the project
  • Easy to follow pattern/chart with clear instructions. Tutorial videos are a nice bonus
  • Woven fabric, like Aida. Sometimes the fabric is pre-printed with the pattern outlines.
  • An embroidery hoop or frame.

Some kits may include extra items, like scissors, stitch markers, or a project tote bag.

I’m looking for someone who will complete a cross-stitch kit. I got it thinking I would do it but can’t see well enough anymore. Any suggestions on finding someone? Thank you!
